The NSGP F1 Series returns in another season of high octane racing action, and this installment is promising to be double the fun, double the content and double the action.

Yup, It's finally here. NSGP F1 Returns is my latest installment in the NSGP F1 series, with all your teams and the best custom tracks and all new features. It's been a long slog getting this version out, and believe me an awful ammount of work that is still ongoing for a track add-on available when my 1967 mod is released; naturally I have to keep some things back.

But, hopefully this little lot should whet you're appitite for what's to come:

-New simulated first season stats mean the racing is closer, and no longer dominated by real world champions.

-All new track pieces courtesy of Bradley Davies, myself and Paranhos.

-New tracks including "NSGP 500", "RAF Thruxton", "Nurburgring 1967", "Canada" and the ultimate NSGP track, "Pennine Raceway"!

-New additional rounds to season mode.

-New unlockable cars for the 2010/11 season, including two of the three new teams, and new liveries!

-New custom menu screens.

-Bugs fixed, tracks improved, AI sharpened, all in time for the online revolution!

-And much more!

But of course, I want to hear from you! Tell me what you think, what you like, dislike, what you want; afterall, it's your mod!

AHA! As I suspected, try going into saves, deleting the NSGP F1 quickrace file, renaming the mod "NSGP F1 - Returns", checking the Db to see if a) your team is there, and b) Jacques is spelt correctly.

If not, I think you still have the original "NSGP F1" mod.

I figured out what's wrong, the installer was placing the folders in all sorts of weird places :| I've tidied it all up and it works now :)

I think Vic forgot about our Vista brothers; the installer is only working for XP/2000/NT etc

Yeah... it put all folders in the My Docs/New Star GP/ folder and I had to copy the folders into the mod folder in the Mods folder.

Cookie, I had the same problem.

the .exe tried isntalling the first file in a random place, then the second file tried installing the folders to some other folder. I had to manually rename and move them.


BTW, im liking it alot with my team in now, although I did notice a little glitch on one of the tracks in story mode, the coms crash against a wall quite frequently on one track, cant remember which.

Noticed 3 bugs.
EDIT: Noticed another!

~On Monza 1967 GP, sometimes if the pack is close, and 1 driver crashes into the wall on the top left turning part (where the wall comes close to the road) the cars will all suddenly slam into it too.

~On European GP (GBR), check the pit lane line, because when they leave the pits, they do a little weird turn first, and it massively slows them down, which can make it slightly easy to win against them, especially because sometimes they will hit the wall and crash out.

~Also on European GP (GBR), occasionally on the very first corner, the computer will occasionally just drive right into the sand traps. Also, I noticed the once that The Stig had managed to get on the other side of the fence. I did take a screen shot but i accidentally coppied something else and over-wrote it.

~On Monza also when driving past the starting grid, the positions will all jumble up for some reason, and when in fact I should have finished 3rd, it said I finished 6th.

EDIT: Im online now, so if you wanna race... I was just doing some of my NSGP F1 Returns career.

aware of all the bugs, the Monza one is beyond me, the Donnington ones will be fixed except the first turn which is the AI making programmed "errors"

Theres still a couple of issues, and several to do with the mechanics of the game, not the mod, that need addressing. As for online play, it looks pretty grim based on the session me and brad had this afternoon, but if Si could have an online session with a few of us then we'd be able to show him these bugs first hand.

I believe they are caused by the addition of teams 11 and 12.

the mods are not dependeble on operative system, its just a matter of not having those installers... and give us the files directly and it works.

Just had a quali session around the British track and lost the pole in the last lap by 100 milisseconds (damn Asgar!) and then I raced the track. Dawood decided to turn around, go into the middle of the mess and then go forward, I took 1st place then. Senna overtook me, I found with him, I overtook him and then I finished the 1st lap 1st, but as soon as I crossed the finish line, bam, NSGP shuts down. Anything to do with the mod? Anyone with the same problem?

NSGP does tend to close itself occasionally without warning, it's been happening for the last three versions now.

The Donnington park racing line has been fixed.

My 1st season is being a dispute between RPF1, Paranhos GP and Sputnik F1! (oh and sometimes Bazik F1 decides to cause trouble :P) Just as well Tiago Monteiro isn't having the best season so I'm controlling my team placement in the constructors' championship single-handedly lol

New version posted with most things fixed, including the track installer which should now update to fixed versions of all tracks. We're getting closer to a fully working version, a couple more yet and I think it's just up to Si sorting out errors online with the two new teams.

Edit: Two errors noticed, Donnington Season still has the first row go backwards at the start, and 11/12's banners are reversed.

Will be fixed when I get together with Vic next to sort out the installer.

btw, my racing team Bazik F1, as grown to embrace other forms of racing, other than only F1 and other venues other than only the NSGP Championship.

As such the name made little sense, so it has been rebranded as voidRacing()

It would be disapointing to loose teams like Western Sunset, HP and Equitechs etc. but it may be necessary to do a bit of housekeeping to keep a decent community around the mod.

I agree with you, teams should reapply and re-demonstrate their interest in racing in the most prestigious NSGP competition. It should be a season by season application, in order to allow new entrants.

Windows: 145 downloads (1,2 per day)

Noticed a problem with the manual download.

The quickrace tracks do not replace the default circuits with the modified 24 car versions. I don't have the original files any more, because I'm on a new PC. Does anyone have them?

Both in fact, I'm using the manual one at the moment, but the other didn't change it either.

Guys not trying to stir up anything but I was performing a virus scan today and it turned up that the NSGP F1 returns install files were malware droppers,

has anyone else had this?

I don't have an AV installed right now (don't have a firewall either for that matter) so I can't check, but I suspect that the viruses latched onto your install files as that sounds incredibly strange :confused:

I'd thought that but everything else is showing up clean on Norton and on Malwarebytes, its just Malware bytes picks those up.

After it originally deleted them I unzipped it again and scanned them with the same result.

EDIT: I also just redownloaded the zip file and again it is showing up infected, I'm sure I read before that Paranhos used some program to make the installers, maybe its something to do with those?

Brad, did you scan the actual install exe files? (Apologies I misread your post, ignore this)

I have just uploaded the first to Virus Total and recieved these notable results:

Prevx 3.0 2010.11.03 Medium Risk Malware
TheHacker 6.7.0.1.075 2010.11.02 Trojan/Agent.cikm

File 2 also returns the same fails

However on reflection no one has ever reported any problems related to Malware infections, I have not got any and would wager that you guys have not either so I would think you are correct in saying that this is a *censored word* up :lol:

I've downloaded and checked the files with Kaspersky Internet Security 11 (fully genuine, latest definitions installed) and didn't get any positive match ;)

I used Smart Install Maker to do the setup... But most AVs are just over-cautious about everything, I think.

True, but they must be :) That's why false positives are often adn checking it with multiple tools is a must.
