NSS3 saves will crash if you save them with ZERO energy. If you haven't had this problem you should still make sure that you have version 3.01 (check the Help > About box).
Version 3.01:
http://download.newstargames.com/NewStarSoccer3_01.zip
Just download the zip above and extract the exe over the old version in C:\Program Files\New Star Soccer 3\.
If you had a corrupt save it still may not work. If not try renaming the .bak in the save folder to .nss then load that. If that fails then email it to siread@newstarsoccer.com and he will fix it and mail it back to you. :D
