NSS Facelift

Another post, so soon?! You better believe it, baby. I've been hard at work on the new interface for NSS4 and after giving you a glimpse last week I've decided to share the progress thus far. Before I continue I must give a huge high five to a chap that goes by the name of Fry Crayola. He has designed a GUI system for BlitzMax which I am using for NSS4. It basically allows you to place panels, buttons, drop-down menus and so on wherever you like and edit exactly how they look. He's actually writing it for use in his own football management game which means the functionality is perfect for NSS4. So a big thank you to Fry for sharing it with the BlitzMax community. So let's take a look shall we...

Here is my opening screen which allows you to start a new game or load a previous one. The loading/saving system is in place, but I haven't added a confirm deletion check yet.

This is the current stats screen which displays all the player details. The data you see is mostly dummy info at the moment, so ignore my age and ridiculously high drug intake. Oh and that crazy looking chap is me. I'm not sure why i'm so happy - must be the drugs. The purpose at this stage is just displaying everything in a nice readable manner, so that the database editors can't check out there squads and players in the game rather than just staring at the editor app all day. Most of the navigation buttons don't work at the moment, but I had some fun creating them.

Finally here's a shot of the very early options screen which allows you to set the background as a 3D spinning globe! The earth was the first thing I experimented with when trying out MiniB3D and I decided that it may well have some use within the game. The eagle eyed editors will have no doubt noticed the longitude and latitude fields in the stadium objects. More on that at a later date though. :)

So, that's where we are at the moment. Still early days, but I hope you'll agree that it's nice to finally get an idea of how the finished game might look. It could still change a great deal thanks to the customizable nature of FryGUI, but at the moment I am very happy with it. I hope you like it too.
